COVID-19: Weld County case, testing and outbreak data for the week of Sept. 1

Sep. 2—Weld County officials this week reported 1,017 new COVID-19 cases, for a total of 37,994 cases since the pandemic began.

The county's one-week average positive test rate is 10.28%, about the same as last week. In the Greeley area, that rate is 9.85%. Southeast Weld now has the lowest rate in the county, at 9.84%. North Weld continues to have the highest rate, 11.58%.

There are 210 COVID-19 patients at Weld regional hospitals, up from 165 a week ago. Forty-three of those patients are in county hospitals. There are 262 hospital beds and 18 ICU beds available. Twenty-two of those beds and two of those ICU beds are located within the county. A week ago, there were 252 hospital beds and 38 ICU beds.

About 13.1% of patients in Weld regional hospitals are COVID-19 patients. Within the county, that rate is 18.1%.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported 10 active outbreaks this week in Weld County:

1. Ashley ManorEvans 1: Four staff cases. Outbreak reported Tuesday.

2. Life Care Center of Greeley: Two resident cases and two staff cases. Outbreak reported Tuesday.

3. The Center at CenterPlace: Two staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 23.

4. Windsor Healthcare Center: Two staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 23.

5. Brookdale Greeley: 13 resident cases and one staff case. Outbreak reported Aug. 17.

6. The Bridge at Greeley: Two staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 13.

7. JBS Corporate: 19 staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 5.

8. Greeley Place Independent Living: Nine resident cases and one staff case. Outbreak reported Aug. 17. No new cases since the week of Aug. 18.

9. Good Samaritan SocietyBonell Community: One resident and one staff case. Outbreak reported Aug. 13. No new cases since the week of Aug. 18.

10. Ray Domenico Farms: 16 staff cases. Outbreak reported Aug. 2. No new cases since the week of Aug. 4.

Greeley-Evans School District 6 reported 526 students and four adults in quarantine as of Thursday.

County data show 355 Weld resident deaths due to COVID-19 as of Tuesday, with one new death reported in the past week. The state reported three new deaths among people who died with COVID-19 in Weld, for a total of 364. The state reported one new death due to COVID-19 in Weld, bringing the total to 313.

The state reports Weld County has identified 1,017 cases of the alpha variant, 345 cases of the delta variant and 18 cases of the gamma variant.

The state positivity rate is 5.79%, down from last week, but about unchanged from two weeks ago, according to state data. The national positivity rate is at 10.6%, down from 11.1% a week ago, according to John Hopkins University data.

Weld County reported Aug. 27 that 16,348 residents have had their first doses of two-part COVID-19 vaccines, and 147,342 residents, 54.8% of the 12-and-up population, are fully vaccinated. The state reports 3,659,797 Coloradans have been immunized with one dose, and 3,336,398, 67.73% of the 12-and-up population, are fully immunized.
