Field hockey coach threatened girl with deportation after sexual assault: police

Patriot-News - 10/13/2021

Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a field hockey club director who might have fled the area after being accused of sexually assaulting a teenager.

William Gaudette, 77, has been charged with five felonies and one misdemeanor, police said. The charges were filed on Oct. 7.

According to charging documents, Gaudette is charged with statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault under age 16, indecent assault of a person under age 16, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors age 18 or older, and intimidation of a victim.

The girl was 13 and 14 when he influenced her to have sex with him, police said. The documents cite that he was 75 to 76 years old when he “penetrated” the victim “with his fingers and his penis.”

Gaudette inappropriately made contact with the teenager in 2020 and 2021 on several occasions. Police received a tip from Dauphin County Children and Youth Services on Sept. 11 that indicated there was ongoing child abuse.

The teen said she had been assaulted on “numerous occasions” at Gaudette’s house. The assaults began in June 2020 and lasted until July 2021.

She told police that Gaudette had assaulted her at least twice a week during that timeframe. She then tried to talk to Gaudette about it, and she said he tried to intimidate her from going to the authorities. He told her he would have her “deported and her mother would not be able to immigrate to the U.S.,” according to documents.

Gaudette has been at the helm of the East Coast Field Hockey Club based in Hershey for almost 40 years. He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 175 pounds, and has blue eyes and grey hair, police said.

He resides on South Hoernerstown Road in South Hanover Township, Dauphin County. However, his current whereabouts are not known, police said.

Anyone who knows where Gaudette is or wants to report an incident involving him should call state police, 717-671-7500.
